We're meeting up at 5:00pm at the Minneapolis late-night landmark, Little Tiajuana (which I haven't been to since they remodeled). What's more, this will be a joint tour co-led by myself and Andy Sturdevant, one of my all-time favorite partners in flaneurie.
Whittier Neighborhood, and especially Nicollet Avenue, is my favorite place to stroll in the entire Twin Cities. It's shopwindows and diversity are unparalleled, and it's filled with interesting historical trivia which I will be happy to share with you as we wander around the street, looking at the interesting art in the windows.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The weather will be awesome! STFU and enjoy the wintertime. Why own a winter coat if you're not going to use it on a gorgeous sunny snowflake day in January?
Here's the writeup by the tireless organizer of the whole shindig, Joan Vorderbruggen:
Join us as we welcome the return of guest tour guides and men-about-town Andy Sturdevant and Bill Lindeke as they lead you on an abbreviated walking tour of exhibits featured in the third run of the Artists in Storefronts project, as well as a pub crawl of local and historic "Eat Street" watering holes! Generous drink specials will be offered as well as discounted admission to the Outlet Performance Festival to follow the tour!
The Facebook event is here, and you can RSVP. I'm really looking forward to this, and so can you.
[My favorite doorway storefront in the Twin Cities is Harry Singh's on Nicollet and 27th.] |
