You're Not From Here #9: El Paso, Omaha, and Beaverton; Wednesday 2/4 at Black Hart

A good time to be had by all.

Boy it's been a month. I'm sure glad 2026 is almost over! Oh boy.

At any rate, I'm hosting another You're Not From Here, Are You? at the Black Hart of St. Paul on Wednesday 2/4. This is a show for transplants to the Twin Cities, who will share a bit about their hometowns. I will also be sharing fun facts about the Twin Cities metro area.

It's at the Black Hart of St. Paul at 7pm and I hope you can make it! Now more than ever, it's good to be in solidarity and community with people in places that are important to us. I'm not lying when I say I've been looking forward to it for weeks now.

This month we have a great group of guests hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, El Paso, Texas, and Beaverton, Oregon. Come and learn about interesting places and why people left them. We will also be raising our glasses to the great people of the Twin Cities, who deserve a bit of praise in this moment.

Fun, free, educational! Hope to see you then.

Great news! After a month’s summer vacation, the You’re Not From Here, Are You? (A Show for Transplants) its back at the Black Hart of St. Paul next Wednesday, 9/3 at 7pm. I have some great guests lined up, representing the towns of Perkasie, New Bern, and Des Moines.

I can't help but share this tidbit, too: One guest happens to be Em Cassel, editor, writer, and co-owner of Racket. Not only will she be telling us about Perkasie, she'll be sharing some insights gained from their recent article on how transplants make friends in the Twin Cities

I hope to see you there!

You're Not From Here, Are You? #1 this Wednesday

If you're not doing anything at 7:30 this Wednesday, come on down to the Black Hart Bar and hang out with me as I meet three new friends. It's the first ever episode of You're Not From Here, Are You? a event idea I mentioned a while back.

I'm excited to be having on the stage at The Black Hart of St. Paul with me three folks

  • Mike from Scranton
  • Sawyer from Austin
  • and Grace from St. Louis

They'll all be sharing stories about their home towns, how they ended up in the Twin Cities, and I guarantee it will be fun. Let's learn something new and break down the insular bubble at the same time.

Free and open to all! Hope to see you soon.
